Anything Goes Saturday – paint on a journal page
Happy Saturday stampers – I tried another new idea for mixed media with the Anything Goes Saturday – paint on a journal page idea.
I am loving this class I decided to finish as I am trying so many new techniques to use in Mixed Media. I have seen Vicky Papaioannou use paint a lot and would never have tried it if it had not been part of this class. Now I need to pull out my paints and play with them. I love it when I get ideas to try.
Today’s Project
For today’s page we used paint to make the background. I do not have any of the distress paints so I had to do some ink blending to make my colors. I show you how in the video below. I was nervous about painting and my ivory layer has more ink than I would have liked but really you can’t tell once all the other layers were added. the next layer was the green. I did not have a green that went with the Arden Creative Studio laser cuts so I used on the leaf die cuts and matched it as good as I could with the paint I had. Jamie, the instructor for the class, loves splatters so we added those next. She is also a lover of sparkle like me so we also uses a spritz to add some shimmer.
The texture paste was added using a flourish type stencil. I like this idea to hide some of the green ink that is added. For this one there were no die cuts added but a page in the paper collection had four 3″ x 4″ cards. I cut them apart and chose the one with the sentiment that went with my theme in the book. I did cut mine down smaller as I felt it hid too much of the background of the page.

I have played with making journals before. Check out this idea that is from 18 years ago. No video as I had not ventured into that area yet. A journal does not have to be an elaborate creation. Here is an idea for a simple one.
