Mixed Media Monday #15 – Fall idea

Hello everyone – today is Mixed Media Monday #15 – Fall idea page.
I wanted to make a Fall idea since most of the other posts this month are about Halloween. I chose a cute Fall gnome as the starting point.
Today’s Project
With the gnome as my starting point, I chose a rust, orange, and tan acrylic paint to make my background. The colors were based on the colors in the gnome I chose. I brushed the paint on in layers. When the paint was dry I pulled in a plaid stencil and added some texture paste. The next step was adding some rub ons. I chose some words from a collection I had. I also found a butterfly in another collection that I used.

I needed some laser cuts so I found a flower with the same colors and added it so it would be taller than the gnome. I had a hay bale in an ephemera pack so I cut it in half and glued it down at the bottom. The gnome was added on top to cover the cut line. the other half of the bale was added on the right side of the gnome.

Ink is another medium you can use for your background. Look at this great purple and aqua background created with ink. Have you seen the series I am doing showing how I am using a class to create a journal? Here is one of the mixed media pages from the journal.
