Thursday’s Product Focus

Good Morning Ladies ~ Are you ready for our Thursday’s Product Focus?

Well Zoie has the flu.  Jess took her to Urgent Care yesterday before she left for her trip.  This is not a flu like we are used to.  She has had a headache and just wants to sleep.  I had heard there were 2 types of flu going around – A and B.  This one must be the B.  She has not eaten much and her fever has been off and on since last Friday.  This one also tends to lead to bronchitis so she has medicine for that as she has developed a cough.  Now we are all hoping no one else gets it.  Wish us luck!

Our product focus this week is the Hey, Chick stamp set.  You should have arrived here from Jenilee’s blog – Artisans Anonymous.  I have to admit that this set was not one that I really wanted.  Then I started seeing all the samples and they were so cute that I had to have it.  I recently saw a technique that I wanted to give a try.  It was a simple, easy watercoloring.  The person used the stamp pad and a baby wipe.  I decided to try it.  Well it did not work for me like it worked for her.  I am not sure if I missed a step or what but mine did not look like I wanted it to.  Here is what mine looked like.

So after that failure, I went back to the Watercolor smoosh.  For this technique you spritz your paper with water and let it set to soak in some.  Then you take a piece of acetate and push it into your stamp pad.  Then using the acetate you drag it across your watercolor paper.  If you want your colors to blend you can do the next color right away.  If you do not want the colors to blend much – like I didn’t – you let the color dry and then do the next color.  I used 3 colors – Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, and Cherry Cobbler to create my background.  After my background was dry I used the chicken wire stamp in Butterfly Basics to stamp it all over the colored area.  Now I had to stamp and color my chick.  I used the same colors as the background to color him.  After he was colored I fussy cut him and popped him on my card panel using dimensionals.  I add this panel to a Basic Black panel and then that panel was added to my Whisper White card base.  I needed a sentiment so I used the one in the set.  Here is my completed creation.

Next up on the hop is Amanda’s blog – Our Crafty Playdate.  Make sure you check out what she created using this stamp set.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Remi is at her other grandmother’s today and I have Zoie as she cannot go back to school yet.  I am hoping to get lots of time in my craft room.  Have a Great Day and we hope you are enjoying our Thursday’s Product Focus blog hops.
