Wait Until You See This

Yesterday I told you I was working on a special project that I would post today. Do you remember the rooster gift cards I made and shared with you last week? Well I needed some way to package them to give them to the lady. The last few weeks I have seen different card purses posted on blogs and I thought it would be fun to package my gift in one of these. Unfortunately in my search every one I found would only hold 3 x 3 cards or only 4 of the A2 size cards. Since I had 8 cards and envelopes nothing would work.

Since I could not find a template that would work, I knew I had to come up with something on my own. I searched several blogs and Splitcoast resources and used ideas from several of these to come up with my design. I began by playing with a template I had that I used for my card boxes. It was smaller than I needed so I started by increasing the size. Once I figured out the size, I realized I would need a piece of cardstock that was larger than a 12 x 12. That meant I had to use an 8 1/2 x 11 and join the 2 sides.

Once I got my box made I then need to make the closing flap. Again I played with ideas/techniques I had read on blogs and came up with my flap. Here is my gorgeous creation which will hold 8 A2 cards and envelopes!

So what do you think? Isn’t it just the cutest! I am planning on making another one for another gift set I made using Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

  1. Hey Robbie, this is gorgeous!
You're very clever – love the idea and will definitely have to try it.
As you said, it's hard to find holders for larger cards – there are lots of gift bags for the
3" x 3" cards but this one is just great for bigger cards. Well done 🙂

  2. How clever can you be? I absolutely love it. Great design. Like the paper selection as well. How long did it actually take you to figure this out? Lucky friend who is going to receive it. Thanks for sharing. You should write a tutorial for this on your blog. Sandy

  3. It is a cute purse for cards.
    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Robbie, this is the BEST paper purse I have seen in all day! I have searched high and low for purses that would hold 6-8 cards that are 5.5×4.25". I'd LOVE template, tutorial or instruction for this purse. It's truly fabulous!!
