Watercolor Snowflakes Card

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Hello everyone ~ I played with the watercolor technique to create my Watercolor Snowflakes Card today.

Well I got my shelves put together in my garage and my bins on them thanks to Doug and Barb.  We also organized the things in the garage.  It is now nice and neat in there.  We also talked about the placement for my bird feeder and Doug started putting that up.  I managed to get my newsletter out for the first time in a over a month.  After that I went up to studio.  I cleaned off the table I work at, hung up my lights so I am ready to videotape tomorrow, and then made several cards and a 3D item.  I plan on going back up there tomorrow and working on my videos and some cards I need.  I hope to get a lot done.

I took some time to play with some watercolor backgrounds.  I created several papers and today’s card used one of them.  I took a piece of watercolor paper that measured 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and taped it down to my board.  I took reinkers for Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, and Pool Party and added a drop onto an acrylic block when I was using that color.  Using a large paint brush I covered a section of the paper with water.  I then used a smaller paint brush and picked up some of the Pool Party ink and lightly touched the brush to the paper.  The water allows the ink to spread in the area where there is water.  So that the colors do not mix, you need to allow the water to dry.  Once the Pool Party ink was dry I added more water in several other areas and repeated the process for the Balmy Blue ink.  This was set aside again to dry.  To finish off the panel I repeated the same process using the Blueberry Bushel reinker.  Once it was dry I went back and added more water and reinker if there was any area that did not have color.  Once the panel was dry I was ready to emboss my snowflakes.  I used the Embossing Buddy as the embossing powder would stick if the watercolor panel was not dry.  The snowflakes came from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and were inked up with Versamark and heat embossed using Whisper White embossing powder.  Now it is time to assemble the card.  The watercolor paper was added to a piece of Balmy Blue that measures 3 3/4″ x 5″.  To add some sparkle, I took a piece of the Silver metallic edged ribbon and wrapped it around watercolor panel.  A piece of Sparkle Glimmer paper was cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″.  Using my trimmer I cut out the center of the glimmer paper by cutting 1/2″ from the outside edge all the way around.  This creates a frame and does not waist all your glimmer paper.  The Blueberry Bushel panel was added to the glimmer paper frame using glue dots.  All the panels were then attached to a Blueberry Bushel card base.  I added a bow using glue dots to finish the card.  Here is my completed Watercolor Snowflakes Card
