Spooktacular Mixed Media Magic: Watercolor Backgrounds, Rub-Ons, & Halloween Laser Cuts!

Hello everyone – a Spooktacular Mixed Media Magic: Watercolor Backgrounds, Rub-Ons, & Halloween Laser Cuts! is the creation for today.
Are you ready to add a little Halloween magic to your mixed media journal? I was inspired by an idea for a background I saw online.Today, I was inspired by an idea for a background I saw online. It was one created for a mixed media project and I knew I wanted to try it for my Halloween idea.
Today’s Project
This project basically evolved as I went along. One of my favorite things about mixed media is that there are no rules. This Halloween journal page is a great way to experiment and let your creativity run wild. I started by creating the background by sponging on a green, orange, and purple ink. Once the watercolor background is dry, it’s time to add some fun. I wasn’t happy with the look so I decided to use an embossing folder as a stamp and added some texture. I honestly thought I had ruined it but I kept going. I pulled out my Halloween rub-ons and found one to add at the top. I helped tie in the stamped background as it had webs and spiders. It was slowly coming along.

Laser-cut embellishments add dimension, detail, and personality to your Halloween creation. Arrange the pieces on your page to see how they look. Remember to overlap them to create depth. It was lacking something so I decided to add some green foil punched circles to mimic bubbles.

There are many ways to create a background. Check out this fun salt background. Sometimes you get a surprise with your background like this idea that used ink on block that you spritz and smoosh on your paper. When you lift up the block a pattern may appear like this one.
