Mixed Media Monday #18 – color burst
Hello everyone – I recently saw a reel by Katie Pertiet where she used pigment powders for a mixed Media page and I decided to pull mine out to make the Mixed Media Monday #18 – color burst idea.
When I saw the use of pigment powders to create the background for a Mixed Media page I remembered I had some and pulled them out. I wanted to do a Fall page as I had some great rub-ons but I did not want orange. I opted for the golden yellow which also had some other sprinkles of red and orange.
Today’s Project
I was so surprised when the water hit the pigment powders and there were bursts of red and orange and even some green. I thought it made the perfect background for my idea. Since my rub-ons had brown I decided to use some sprinkle stamps and brown ink to add some dots in the upper left and lower right hand corners of the page. I had several flower and leaf sprays in the rub-on collection so added them in the lower left hand corner. A sentiment and butterfly were the last to be added.
The stamp set with the sprinkle stamp also had some sentiments. I thought the “make a wish” sentiment was a good one to use on this page so I stamped it in dark brown. The butterfly ephemera had a simple butterfly that had brown and yellow and a touch of orange on it’s wings so I used that one on the page also.

Did you miss this idea that used glue stamping to add gold leafing to one of the pages. If you have some acrylic paint you can also use it for your background like this idea.

I am enjoying creating the background for different pages. I am always surprised with how they turned out like the excitement I got when the Mixed Media Monday #18 – color burst was spritzed with water and other colors came out.
