Mixed Media Monday #12

Hello everyone – this Mixed Media Monday #12 uses bright colors instead of the more muted colors lots of people use.
I decided to use some bright colors to see if I could create a Mixed Media idea with them. I chose a turquoise and a purple but they turned out pink for some reason. Maybe the color is supposed to be like that.
Today’s Project
I began by creating my background in the art journal. This is a simple watercolor idea with adding water to the page, adding tinker to a glass mat and spritz with water then pick up the ink using a water brush. By adding both colors without waiting for them to dry the 2 colors mix creating a third color. You have to make sure your page is totally dry before you stamp with glue. I used a sunflower stamp and stamped with glue. You let the glue dry and then the glue is tacky. Once it is tacky you can add the gold flakes and burnish them in.

Once I had my flowers stamped I wanted to create a vine so it looked like the flowers were on the vine. I used some die cuts to create a vine look. To finish it off I added some butterflies cut in colors that match the watercolors.

This idea uses the same shades as today’s idea but these are deeper in saturation. This one uses a very soft background which was my first exploration in mixed media.
