Sunday Ideas – Press Plate

Hello everyone – I found another idea to share with you today with the Sunday Ideas – Press Plate card.
I have wanted to use press plates for several years but did not know if it was something I wanted to invest in. I ran across a video from Jennifer McGuire where she shows you how to use the plates without the press machine.
Today’s Project
I found out you can use press plates using a rubber embossing mat so I purchased a couple of the plates to try it out. I learned quite a bit with my first play. One thing I did not do was spray my cardstock with water. I think it would have helped prevent some of the cracking I had. I also did not purchase the dies as I wasn’t certain if they would cut out the press plate. Need to remember than next time. I did use my own ink and I found the linen pads were better than the foam pads. Here is my first play.

Once I had my image fussy cut I wanted to have a background for it. I remembered I had an embossing folder that had flowers like the press plate. I used it and inked up the raised side to create a pretty background. To finish off the card I used some white silver trimmed ribbon.

Since this is my first play with the press plate I did find some ideas for the embossing folder. Here is a tag I made with the embossing folder.
