Pink and Black idea for CutCardStock

Hello everyone – I had so much fun playing with the various shades of cardstock to create the Pink and Black idea for CutCardStock.

I was inspired by a card I saw by Jamie Rodgers and decided to make my version. I found 3 shades of pink I could use for my flowers and black always makes the colors pop. Check out the details below.

Today’s Project

The card that inspired me was black and gold. I did not want to use gold so I decided to use my favorite color – pink. I found 3 shades that blend well together and knew I cold make flowers with them. I have the Flower Petals die that cuts out a bunch of flowers of different sizes at one time. The card I saw also had die cuts that looked like mini filmstrips. I had the eyelet belly band and figured I could cut it in half to create my own strips. My background is an embossing folder that I thought went with the idea. I embossed a piece of vellum and then backed it with a piece of light gray cardstock so it would stand out more.

I searched my stash for an embossing folder that would work with the card. I thought the one I chose went well with the die cut flowers. I cut my flowers from 3 shades of pink then layered them differently to create the flowers for the card. I love the way the eyelet belly band turned out. It adds the perfect background for the pink flowers.

I used coral and some punches to create the flowers on this card. I layered them with different shades also. And if you don’t have several shades of one color you can use one color and add ink blending to give it depth like the ones on this card.
